Welcome to this year’s Primary Teacher Summer School which will run at Studio ON Creative Learning Centre from Tuesday 14th to Friday 17th August 2012!

All the courses are free and have been designed to support CCEA’s UICT Accreditation Scheme, especially in the area of using ICT Creatively. However applications are welcome from anyone who works in a Primary school, no matter their ICT experience or their school’s scheme uptake.

TUESDAY 14th AUGUST – 9.45-3.30
		USING IPADS IN THE CLASSROOM - Learn the basics of using iPads and get creative with a variety of apps that can be used in the classroom. UICT Desirable Features covered: Working with Images, Moving Images & Music TechnologyFULL				SCRATCH & LEGO WEDO - Learn the basics of programming using Scratch – a free, easy programming language for creating interactive stories, games, music and art. WEDNESDAY 15th AUGUST – 9.45-3.30
		BEGINNING STOP-MOTION ANIMATION - Explore a variety of simple animation techniques using digital stills cameras and learn how to put everything together as a finished animation in Windows Movie Maker. UICT Desirable Features covered: Animation.				DTP WITH WORD & COMIC LIFE - Learn how plan, design and create a variety ofdocuments such as newspapers, comics, posters and leaflets using Comic Life and MS Word. UICT Desirable Features covered: Desktop Publishing.
THURSDAY 16th AUGUST – 9.45-3.30
		APP & MEDIASCAPE DESIGN - Learn how to use free online software to create simple Mediascape apps that will work on your smart phone or iPad. UICT Desirable Features covered: Exploring Programming.				MOVING IMAGE IN THE CLASSROOM - Go through the process of planning, shooting and editing a short movie using digital stills and Windows Movie Maker. UICT Desirable Features covered: Moving Images.
FRIDAY 17th AUGUST – 9.45-3.30
		EXPLORING MUSIC & SOUND - Designed for music specialists and non-specialists alike, this course will cover recording musical performances and creating soundcapesusing Audacity. UICT Desirable Features covered: Working with Sound and Music Technology.				GAME-MAKING WITH KODU - Learn how to use Kodu – a new free visual programming language made specifically forcreating games for the Xbox on the PC anddesigned to be accessible for children. UICT Desirable Features covered: Exploring Programming.
