The day that we visited the Indian Communtiy Centre and Temple

We went to the Indian Community Centre on Wednesday the 25th of May 2005. When we got there we met a indian lady called Sharada. Sharada showed us the Temple were they would prayed to the lords she also told us the history about India it was very interesting. The things that I learned for this trip was that the main religion in Indian was Hinduism, They pray three times a day in the morning, afternoon and evening, when they pray they light candles and burn incense and offer gifts.

During Sharada's talk she told us all about the sari. The sari is a rectangular piece of unstitched fabric ( usually silk) which is draped in various ways. The length of the fabric is six yards (five metres) long. This is a one piece of clothing which fits all - fat or thin, short or tall!!!!. The length allows for generous pleating and draping around the the body and over the shoulders. The loose end of the fabric which is thrown over the left shoulder is knowing as 'Pallu'. Pullu usally has designs and embroidery woven into it. There is a petticoat worn under the the sari to hold the sari in place. There is also a tight fitting blouse which maybe short or long sleeved. The price of a sari can vary according to the amont of detail.
